Welcome to Rainbow Colors Family Child Care:

Multilingual Learning:

We believe that early exposure to multiple languages helps children develop communication skills, cultural awareness, and confidence.

Inspired by the research of Dr. Franco Fabbro and by my own experience raising multilingual children, language is naturally woven into our day through play, songs, books, routines, and conversation.

Children are exposed to English and Spanish, the primary languages of our community, along with Italian and German, reflecting my roots in multilingual South Tyrol, Italy.

Our goal is simple: make language learning natural, enjoyable, and part of everyday life.

Healthy Homemade Meals Inspired by Italian Tradition:

Healthy eating is an important part of every day at Rainbow Colors. We prepare fresh, homemade meals inspired by Italian tradition and the principles of the Mediterranean diet.

Our menus include fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats, helping children discover new flavors and develop positive eating habits from an early age.

Mealtime is also a learning experience, where children practice independence, table manners, conversation, and the joy of eating together.

Building Independence:

We believe that one of the greatest gifts we can give children is the confidence to do things for themselves.

Inspired by the Montessori and Agazzi philosophies, our approach combines independence, hands-on learning, and problem-solving with warmth, creativity, community, and everyday experiences.

Through play, exploration, choices, and practical activities, children build confidence, develop essential life skills, and learn to become increasingly independent at their own pace.

Our goal is to prepare children not only for school, but for life.

Ilaria Baldo

The Owner

Hello, and welcome!

My name is Ilaria, and I am the proud owner of Rainbow Colors Family Child Care.

Originally from South Tyrol, Italy, my family and I have happily called Vista, California, home for the past several years. I am also the mother of three wonderful children, and becoming a parent has strengthened my belief that every child deserves a safe, loving, and inspiring place to grow.

Education has always been my passion. My studies include psychology, sociology, and pedagogy, along with specialized training in the management and operation of childcare facilities.

Before opening Rainbow Colors, I worked for several years as both a teacher and co-director of an early childhood school in Italy. After moving to California, I continued expanding my experience by volunteering and collaborating with local childcare programs before fulfilling my dream of opening my own licensed Family Child Care in 2023.

Growing up in South Tyrol, where both Italian and German are spoken every day, sparked my passion for multilingual education. Together with my husband, I spent years studying how young children naturally acquire languages and applied those principles while raising our own three children. Watching them grow up confidently using multiple languages has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.

Volunteering has also shaped who I am. From organizing youth groups in my local parish to serving for many years as a Scout leader, I have always believed that education extends far beyond the classroom. Children learn through relationships, meaningful experiences, responsibility, and the freedom to explore the world around them.

Today, Rainbow Colors is the place where I bring together everything I have learned as an educator, a mother, and a lifelong learner. Every child who walks through our door is welcomed with patience, respect, encouragement, and genuine care. My goal is not only to prepare children for school, but to help them grow into confident, kind, curious, and independent individuals.
